This Alaskan Brown Bear meandered through the rivers of Katmai National Park during the salmon spawning season. Sadly, many bears don't die of old age, but rather because their teeth wear down or fall out due to injuries, rendering them unable to eat the quantities of food they need to survive. This bear appears to have survived a broken jaw, presumably the result of a territorial fight with a fellow bear - as evidenced by its crooked teeth and the rows of claw marks on its shoulder.
